Man, 49, dies after crash on main road

Police are now appealing for dashcam footage

A man has died following a crash on a main road. Emergency services were called to A525 at Ruthin Road near Bwlchgwyn, Wrexham on Sunday, August 24 shortly after 10am[1].

It followed a report of a crash involving a motorbike. However, despite the best efforts of emergency services[2] the motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man died at the scene.

The man's family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

North Wales Police said the coroner has also been made aware. Police are now appealing for witnesses with information to come forward. They have also asked anyone with dashcam footage of a group of 10 motorcyclists travelling between the A483 at Coedpoeth to the A525 at Bwlchgwyn to come forward[3].

Sergeant Duncan Logan of the serious collision investigation unit said: "I share my deepest condolences with the man's family at this difficult time.

"Tragically, this is now being investigated as a fatal collision, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact us.

"Furthermore, I am appealing to anyone with dashcam footage of a group of 10 motorcyclists travelling between the A483 at Coedpoeth to the A525 at Bwlchgwyn leading up to the collision to get in touch with police."

The incident is the second fatal crash in the Bwlchgwyn area in nine days.

The previous incident involved a biker who died in a crash involving a group of four motorcyclists and a Range Rover on Friday, August 15.

The incident happened on the B5340 at Bwlchgwyn, Wrexham.

At 7.38pm that evening, North Wales Police received a report of a three-vehicle crash on the B5340 between the A525 and Rhydtalog.

The crash was between a group of four motorcycles and a Range Rover Evoque.
