M6: Two men charged after police discover 22kg of cannabis

The vehicle was stopped by the Roads Policing Unit on the southbound carriageway of the M6 near Penrith on Thursday, July 31. Officers searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of cannabis. Aaron Keepax, 38, of Grizedale Place in Heysham, and Louis Holloway, 31, of South Road in Morecambe, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

They were later charged and remanded by detectives from Cumbria's Serious and Organised Crime Unit. Both men appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court today, August 1. Keepax was remanded into custody until a further hearing on September 1, while Holloway was released on bail.

The seizure was made as part of Operation Alliance. Operation Alliance is Cumbria Constabulary's ongoing response to tackling serious and organised crime in the county. Anyone with information about drug activity in their community is encouraged to report it.
