M6 closed both directions as air ambulance landed for multi-vehicle crash

Police closed off a busy section of the M6 as an air ambulance landed on the motorway for a multi-vehicle crash.
Emergency services, including officers, paramedics and firefighters, were on scene between J10 and J10A from around 11am this morning, Saturday, August 16.
Two people were thought to have been injured in the collision, with a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s taken to hospital for assessments.
The incident involved two cars and a motorcycle, police said. After around four hours of disruption, the motorway was fully re-opened shortly before 3pm.
Article continues belowA full statement from West Midlands Police[2] read: "We were called to reports of a collision on the M6, junction 10 at around 11am this morning (16 August).
"The collision involved two cars and a motorbike. A man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s were taken to hospital to be assessed.
"The motorway has now re-opened."
Article continues belowDuring the closure, drivers were warned of long delays and 30 minute tailbacks.
Police warned people to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Diversions were given to those heading from the M6 southbound and M54 east.
