‘Serious’ collision shuts M11 near Duxford

The M11 was closed this afternoon (August 10) with traffic being held. The crash was causing long delays with the road closed in both directions. It was reported that the crash took place at about 3.11pm this afternoon.

The incident took place between J10 (Duxford) and J9 (Saffron Walden). The closure impacted traffic heading southbound. All traffic was temporarily held as a result of the crash.

There were huge queues in the area, and severe delays on the M11 at the time of writing. National Highways says: "The M11 in Essex is closed southbound between J10 (Royston) and J9 (Newmarket) following a serious collision. Emergency services are in attendance.

More information to follow, thank you for your patience." The East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted in relation to this incident. Drivers were urged to avoid the area where possible.
