Live M6 updates as fuel spill sparks motorway gridlock and queues across town

Motorists are being warned of delays on the M6 due to a broken down vehicle and a fuel spillage. National Highways has been forced to shut off two lanes on the southbound carriageway around Junction 13. And it's triggered delays on scores of nearby routes with Stafford busy this afternoon.
The incident had occurred at around 10.45am this morning but remains ongoing. Traffic monitoring system Inrix issued an alert in which it stated: "Long delays and two lanes closed due to broken down vehicle and fuel spillage on M6 Southbound after Junction 13 A449 (Stafford South). Congestion to Junction 14 (Stafford North).
Surrounding routes around Stafford are also congested as traffic seeks an alternative."
A live map from Google is showing delays across Stafford including on Newport Road, Rowley Bank, Eccleshall Road and the A34.
