Watch: Overturned lorry on busy Black Country Route blocks three lanes and causes major congestion

West Midlands Roads said the A454 Wolverhampton Road from Walsall[1] approaching the M6 at Junction 10 was partially blocked, with severe congestion as a result. Express & Star photos show a lorry transporting a shipping container had overturned and come to rest on its left side.

West Midlands Roads later said that the recovery of the overturned vehicle was "progressing" and that the westbound A454 Wolverhampton Road had been shut just after Bloxwich Lane.

Only one lane remained passable on the island. West Midlands Roads said on X: "As the recovery of the lorry progresses, it has been necessary to close A454 Wolverhampton Road westbound after Bloxwich Lane.  "Only one lane is passable on the island.

Avoid the area."

A National Express West Midlands spokesperson added: "A lorry has overturned on the M6 Junction 10 (Wolverhampton/Walsall) roundabout resulting in the closure of the Junction 10 southbound exit.

"Long delays on the M6 southbound on approach to Junction 10.

Work to right and recover the lorry is underway."

Heavy congestion still remains in the area.
