An overturned lorry on the M6

A lorry driver has been taken to Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital in a 'serious' condition after an M6 crash. An air ambulance landed at the height of the incident between junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent South and junction 16 for Stoke-on-Trent North.

It comes after the lorry overturned at 8.52pm on Friday, July 11. The motorway was closed for a number of hours.

StokeonTrentLive is still awaiting a statement from Staffordshire Police[1] following the collision.

But West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] has confirmed an ambulance and a paramedic officer were also sent to the scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of an overturned lorry on the southbound carriageway of the M6.

Crews arrived to find the lorry driver, a man, in a serious condition.

He received trauma care for his serious injuries by the team of ambulance staff before being conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care."

Any witnesses can call the police on 101.
