Stagecoach bus and bin lorry crash in Scottish village leaves young teen ‘injured’

A bin lorry and a bus have crashed in a Scottish village, with a 14-year-old passenger understood to have been injured. The alarm was raised in the afternoon on Monday, July 14 and the emergency services were called to Foxton Drive in Thornton, reports the Daily Record.[1][2] It is understood that the bus was full of passengers when the crash occurred and that ambulance crews were in attendance.
Locals were left shocked after the footage taken on the bus after the incident was shared online. A short video taken following the collision[3] showed a side window of the bus shattered in as a result. Details of injuries have not been released but there are reports that a 14-year-old boy was hurt in the incident[4].
One person wrote: "My 14 year old son is pictured in the video. He's currently at the [Victoria Hospital] with a number of cuts and glass in his eye." Another added: "Nice to read all the concerned comments.
My grandson is in A&E at the moment due to this incident." Fife Council have since confirmed that the bin lorry belonged to them and they are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Stagecoach East Scotland have also launched a probe following the incident.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Scotland said: "We can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in an incident on Foxton Drive on Monday afternoon. "Safety is our absolute priority and we will carry out a full investigation into the circumstances." A spokesperson for the local authority added: "Fife Council's head of protective services Nigel Kerr confirmed the council is currently investigating the circumstances of a minor accident involving one of our bin lorries and a bus earlier this afternoon."
Police Scotland[5] have been approached for comment.
