Scaffolding collapses in Paisley lorry crash and ploughs into building window

Scaffolding collapsed into a building in Paisley[1] after a lorry crashed into it. Police scrambled to the scene, on West Street, just before 11am on Wednesday, July 2. The structure had fallen across the street, striking the tenement building opposite and reportedly causing a loud bang.
There are no reported injuries, however, a resident's living room window was shattered. According to local reports, the scaffolding had been in place for several weeks. Pictures from the scene by Paisley Daily Express show police blocking off the road[2] at both ends, attempting to secure the metal structure.
The tall network of bars was seen stretched across the road, with officers and scaffolders hauling it away from the building. Some parts appeared to have become detached, and were lying on the ground.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.40am on Wednesday, 2 July, 2025, police received a report of a lorry crashing into scaffolding on West Street, Paisley. "There were no injuries reported and the road was cleared around 12.05pm.
The driver will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a road traffic offence."
