Roadchef launches first farm shop at Sedgemoor Services, championing local producers

Roadchef Today, Roadchef, one of the UK's leading motorway service area (MSA) operators, announces the launch of its new Farm Shop at Sedgemoor Services Southbound, on the M5. This marks the company's first venture into showcasing premium local artisan produce. The new offering invites travelers to pause their journey and discover the finest food, drink, and craft gifts that Somerset and the wider South West region has to offer.

Sedgemoor Farm Shop proudly showcases quality produce from over 40 local Somerset producers, transforming the traditional motorway stop into a celebration of the county's rich culinary heritage.

The farm shop gives visitors the opportunity to truly experience Somerset as they travel across the region, rather than simply passing through.

Kevin Whitehouse, retail, procurement & supply chain director from Roadchef, explains the concept behind the new venture: "We're incredibly proud to support local producers and the local community with the opening of Sedgmoor Farm Shop. Normally people on motorways drive through the countryside but don't take the time to appreciate it. Our Farm Shop changes that by offering visitors a genuine taste of Somerset - from artisan honey to locally baked goods.

It's a chance for visitors to celebrate the county's rich food heritage and connect with local producers before continuing their journey."

The farm shop features an impressive array of local producers, with 48 producers sourced within a 40-mile radius of Sedgemoor, alongside 14 regional producers within 60 miles Among the featured local artisans are Beaus Bakehouse offering artisan cakes, Sedgemoor Honey Farm providing authentic Somerset honey, and handmade Scotch Eggs from artisan producer Nutts based out of Weston-super- Mare.

Other highlights include; Willow and Finch with their traybakes and cookies Brazier Coffee Roasters supplying premium coffee, family run Westcroft Eggs, and award winning British charcuterie from Somerset Charcuterie.

The launch marks a shift from necessity driven motorway shopping to a desire-driven experience, encouraging visitors to indulge themselves and extend their stay.

By showcasing the county's culinary entrepreneurs, the Farm Shop turns routine journeys into opportunities to support local business and artisans while enjoying premium products that transform a simple stop into a memorable experience.

The development of Sedgemoor Farmshop in conjunction with rural diversification specialist Appetite Me underscores Roadchef's absolute commitment to supporting and championing the local communities.
