Man airlifted to hospital after lorry overturns

A man has been flown to a London hospital after a lorry overturned on the M2. Police and paramedics rushed to the coastbound carriageway between junction 2 for Strood and Rochester[1], and junction 3 for Chatham[2] at 12.34pm today (July 24). The lorry had left the carriageway and overturned.
While responders worked, traffic was held which resulted in heavy congestion and delays building on the approach. A police spokesperson said: "Kent Police[3] was called to a lorry that had left the carriageway and overturned between junctions 2 and 3 of the M2, at 12.34pm on Thursday, July 24. Officers and paramedics attended the eastbound carriageway where the driver was treated for injuries.
"He was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital for further medical attention." A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb)[4] added: "SECAmb were called at approximately 12.40pm today to reports of an overturned lorry on the M2 near Rochester. "Crews assessed and treated the driver of the lorry at the scene for injuries including to their shoulder, chest and leg, before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity, Kent Surrey Sussex. The patient was then airlifted to Kings College Hospital for further medical treatment."
Two lanes of four remain shut on the M2 coastbound and delays persist in the area. Officers from Kent Police remain at the scene to allow the vehicle to be recovered. All future updates to this ongoing incident will be shared to our live blog here[5].
