LIVE updates as M6 crash leaves long delays near Wigan

There is heavy traffic near to Wigan following a collision between three vans and a car on a major motorway. The M6 northbound is seeing severe delays with one lane closed from Junction 26 Orrel Interchange to Junction 27 Standish following the incident. Congestion is tailing back to Junction 24 Ashton-in-Makerfield, with traffic building on the M58.

Traffic monitoring site, Inrix, reports: "Severe delays and one lane closed due to accident, three vans and a car involved on M6 Northbound from J26 M58 (Orrell Interchange) to J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish). It's also slow on the southbound carriageway as onlookers slow to view. Travel time is around 60 minutes." The National Highways have reported there is up to seven miles of congestion.
