Driver taken to hospital after M20 car and lorry crash

A driver has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a lorry on the M20[1]. Emergency services were called to the London-bound carriageway near junction 4 for Leybourne and the A228 shortly before 9am this morning (July 9). Traffic was subsequently stopped on the motorway, resulting in long queues building back towards J6 for the A229 and Blue Bell Hill.
Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb)[2] were joined by officers from Kent Police and responders from National Highways at the scene. An ambulance spokesperson said: "SECAmb were called at approximately 8.35am to reports of an RTC involving a lorry and a car on the M20 near J4. Crews assessed and treated the driver of the car at the scene before taking them to Tunbridge Wells Hospital for further medical treatment."
The driver's injuries are not believed to be serious. Traffic was released after approximately 15 minutes and all lanes re-opened. Residual delays and congestion persisted in the area for a short while after, with normal travel conditions resuming by around 10am.
A police spokesperson added: "Kent Police was called at 8.41am to a two-vehicle collision near J4 of the M20. "Officers attended the scene alongside SECAmb, where one person was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries not believed to be serious. Patrols remain on scene pending vehicle recovery."
