Dartford Crossing bridge is now shut after lorry and car crash

The Dartford Crossing[1] has been closed following an accident involving an HGV and a car. The crash was just before the M25 QEII Bridge at around 11am today. (Thursday) There is damage to the barriers and the road surface, as the lorry has leaked fuel. The collision was between Junction 31 and Junction 1a.
Traffic has been stopped since the crash at around 11.05am. National Highways said earlier all traffic travelling south i.e. clockwise, on the M25/A282 is being diverted through the east bore tunnel. Essex Police has said the decision has been taken with National Highways to close the bridge.
There is a large amount of fuel from the lorry involved in the accident. Traffic monitoring site Inrix said at 12.25pm: "M25 QE2 Bridge clockwise closed, severe delays due to accident, a lorry and a car involved and fuel spillage from J31 A1306 (Lakeside / Purfleet) to J1a A206 (Dartford). Congestion to J28 A12 (Brook Street Roundabout), A13 queues back to Wennington and Grays, and either side through Thurrock and Purfleet."
"Since 11am. The lorry's fuel tank has split and leaked across all lanes, which needs to be cleared. Diversion - Via the right-hand Dartford Tunnel, which is therefore closed to anticlockwise traffic."
