A14 closed in Northamptonshire after crash near Catthorpe

Motorists face long delays after a major road was closed following a serious collision between a lorry and a van, police said.

Northamptonshire Police was called to the incident on the A14's eastbound carriageway - between the junction for the M1 and junction one near Welford - at about 09:00 BST on Wednesday.

Drivers on the A14 eastbound carriageway could not get onto the M1 southbound and the M6 at the Catthorpe interchange.

Both carriageways were closed so the air ambulance could land.

One lane on the west-bound side has now reopened.
