Young man killed in M11 horror crash as lorry driver arrested

A young man has died and another is fighting for his life after a horror crash involving two vehicles and a lorry on the M11 yesterday. Emergency services were scrambled to the M11 near Harlow on Monday afternoon (June 16). Essex Police said they rushed to the scene at just after 14:30 following reports of a crash involving an HGV and two vehicles between junctions seven and eight.

Ambulance crews also attended, but sadly, a man died at the scene. The tragic victim was a 21-year-old man who was the driver of one of the cars. His family have been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

The male driver of the HGV, 57, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and causing injury by careless driving. He has been released on police bail. The motorway was closed for around 12 hours while care was given, a full investigation was carried out, and the road was repaired.
