A trucker needed hospital treatment after the recovery lorry he was driving collided with a coach on the M6[1] near Stoke-on-Trent. Dramatic photos showed the vehicle came to a rest in a grassy ditch[2] on the other side of the crash barrier.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. His injuries were described as minor.

The smash happened on the northbound side between junctions 14 and 15 for Stoke-on-Trent at around 7.30pm on Saturday (June 21).

It led to the closure of three lanes and three miles of congestion before the carriageway was fully reopened at 1am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a vehicle which had left the M6 northbound carriageway and had ended up in a ditch between junctions 14 and 15, Stafford. One ambulance attended the scene and found the driver of the recovery lorry, a man, out of the vehicle. He was assessed and treated for non-serious injuries before being conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further checks."

In a post shared on its Facebook page, Staffordshire Road Crime Team said: "M6 J14 to J15 two vehicle RTC.

Recovery truck collided with a coach before leaving the carriageway.

Luckily minor injury to the driver of the recovery truck."
