Three cars involved in car crash on M5 near Weston

Avon and Somerset Police were at the scene of an incident on the M5 motorway today (Tuesday, June 10) where three vehicles collided, causing all three lanes of traffic going southbound to be held.

Delays were in place between Clevedon (Junction 20) and Weston-super-Mare (Junction 21) whilst police moved the vehicles to the hard shoulder. A person is in hospital following the incident, and it has been confirmed that ambulances were also at the scene.

A spokesperson from the Avon and Somerset Police said, "A three-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway between J20 to J21 of the M5 was reported to us at about 11.05am. "Traffic was held while the vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder and the carriageway was cleared of debris. This was completed at about 11.45am."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) added: "We were called at 11:35hrs on Tuesday 10 June to a road traffic collision near Clevedon.

We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene."
