Pensioner dies in crash on M6 at Sandbach as ‘unidentified’ vehicle drives off

A man has died after his vehicle was involved in a crash with another - which then drove off leaving the scene.
Police were called to the M6 at Sandbach, in Cheshire[1], after a silver Volkswagen Transporter van was involved in an incident with an unknown car at around 6.15am on 23 May.
The driver of the van, a 71-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he died.
Cheshire Police[2] says his next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by officers.
The other vehicle left the scene - between junctions 16 and 17 - following the collision and officers are working to identify it and its driver, the force added.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are urging witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Andrew Dennison, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "If you witnessed the incident and have information which may aid us in locating the driver of the other vehicle, I would urge you to get in touch.
If you have any information that may help, or you are the driver of the vehicle, please come forward and help us with our enquiries."
