Pedestrian dies following lorry collision on A38 in Staffordshire

Staffordshire Police said the incident involving a pedestrian happened on the A38 southbound carriageway at 8.20pm on Friday (27) near Shobnall Bridge between Clay Mills and the Branston junction. The force said  the man, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and it was reopened at 6.40am on Saturday.( 28)

The force  has launched an appeal for witnesses who saw what happened, who may have relevant dashcam footage or who saw the pedestrian prior to the collision, to phone 101 quoting incident number 832 of 27 June, or email collision investigators directly at [email protected][1]
