Major road to stay closed for up to three days after lorry crash

Road closures along a major Peterborough parkway will remain in place for the next few days. A lorry crashed into the central reservation of the Frank Perkins/Fletton parkway[1] on Tuesday (June 3) afternoon at around 4pm. As a result, the road has been partially closed, with a 40mph speed limit in place while emergency repairs take place. Peterborough[2] City Council, which oversees the road, has said that the work is expected to take two to three days to complete.

A council spokesperson said: "Single lane closures in both directions with a 40mph speed restriction on the Fletton Parkway near junction 4 (Stanground) to allow for repairs following damage to the central reserve safety fencing. The closure is to remain in place until repairs have been completed. Given the extent of the damage contractors anticipate the work taking two to three days to complete.
