M11 closed for hours after lorry overturns with severe delays

The M11 was closed between junction 8 at Bishop's Stortford and junction 7A at Harlow for several hours on Monday (June 16). Drivers experienced severe delays after an incident involving a lorry and a car. National Highways confirmed that the closure was due to a heavy goods vehicle which had crossed the central reservation barrier and overturned.
However, it is also believed another car was involved. According to Inrix, the live traffic blog, the incident happened just before 3pm and closed the motorway. Both directions were closed as an air ambulance was reportedly at the scene of the incident.
The M11 Northbound was reopened at around 1:40am on Tuesday (June 17). The road in the southbound direction was reopened at around 2:34am. READ MORE: Weapons, drugs and GBP20,000 discovered after police raid home[1]
