Lorry driver killed in A-30 collision in Cartagena

A man has died following a serious accident on the A-30 motorway near Pozo Estrecho, in the municipality of Cartagena[1]. The crash took place around 12:30 pm on Friday, June 20, at kilometre 175 and involved two lorries, one of them equipped with a crane, and a car.

According to emergency services, the 45-year-old woman driving the car was able to get out by herself and appeared to be unharmed. However, the crane truck driver was trapped inside his cab, which was described as badly crushed due to the impact.

Emergency services respond quickly

Several emergency teams were sent to the scene, including the Guardia Civil, firefighters from Cartagena and the regional fire service, and medical teams from the 061 emergency coordination centre.

When rescuers reached the vehicle, they confirmed that the trapped driver had died at the scene.

Firefighters worked to recover his body from the wreckage.

No other injuries reported

The woman driving the car was checked by medical staff on site and did not require hospital treatment. There were no further injuries reported.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased. An investigation into the cause of the accident is now underway.

Traffic in the area was affected for several hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
