LIVE: M60 closed for EIGHT HOURS amid fatal horror crash

The M60 is closed in both directions after a man has died in a horror crash. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision just before 4am, and a 57-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. The motorway remains completely 'closed due to accident investigation work from J23 A635 Manchester Road J23 (Ashton Under Lyne) to J21 A663 Broadway J21 (Hollinwood)', according to National Highways.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 3:56am this morning (Sunday 29 June 2025) emergency services responded to reports of a road traffic collision on the M60 between junctions 21-20. "Sadly, a 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. "Lane closures remain in place this morning while officers conduct their enquiries."

All lanes are closed in both directions, with the anti-clockwise carriageway closed between junction 23 and 21.

The clockwise carriageway is closed between junction 22 and 23.
