Live M6 updates as gridlock in North Staffordshire after crash and truck fire

Motorists were caught up in delays on the M6 through North Staffordshire after two incidents on either side of the carriageway. The first had taken place on the southbound around Junction 16 where there had been a lorry fire. That incident had seen one lane shut off with queues back to Sandbach Services.

While that was still being dealt with and a collision on the northbound side also at Junction 16 saw all traffic held.

Both carriageways are now running freely.
