Live: M5 southbound traffic held due to overturned vehicle

The M5 southbound is currently blocked, with all traffic temporarily held on the motorway earlier, due to an overturned cattle trailer, according to traffic reports. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported at 5.10pm on Tuesday afternoon (June 3): "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to overturned vehicle on M5 southbound at J27 A361 (Tiverton). Held around 17.10."
It was later reported that the overturned vehicle was a cattle trailer, and that another trailer had been sent to the scene to transfer the animals. Traffic was also temporarily held on the northbound carriageway just after 5.30pm. As of 6pm, the southbound carriageway remains blocked.
National Highways has reported on X (formerly Twitter): "Traffic is being held on the M5 southbound between J27 Tiverton and J28 Cullompton due to a collision resulting in an overturned trailer. Approx.
2 miles of congestion. We'll keep you updated."
