A 17-year-old girl has died following a crash involving a car and a lorry at a roundabout in West Lothian.

The teenager was as passenger in the car which crashed at Boghead Roundabout near Bathgate at about 23:50 on Monday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old man, who was driving the Volkswagen Polo, and an 18-year-old woman were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.

The lorry driver was uninjured and has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner is reviewing the circumstances around the crash, Police Scotland said.

Insp Ben Legge, of the road policing unit, said an investigation was under way.

He added: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young girl who died.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us[1] as soon as possible."
