Crash that kills bull shuts road in early hours

At around 1.06am on Tuesday, June 10, police were called to reports of a collision on the A31.  It was reported that the crash had involved a bull, a car and a lorry near to the Sturminster Marshall junction. The bull was found dead on arrival.

The road was subsequently closed both ways to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.  The road was reopened at around 6.30am this morning.  Police said a 'number of people' were taken to hospital for treatment, but their injuries were not described as serious.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 1.06am on Tuesday 10 June 2025 to a report of a collision involving a lorry, a car and a bull on the A31 near to the Sturminster Marshall junction.  "Officers attended and road closures were put in place to allow for the incident to be safely dealt with.  "A number of people attended hospital for treatment to injuries not described as serious, but it is not clear how many people.

"The road was cleared at around 6.30am."

South Western Ambulance Service was made aware of the incident but did not attend the scene as the casualties had already made their own way to hospital.
