A construction worker was sent flying upside down and left suspended above a motorway after a lorry crashed into him[1].
Harrowing dashcam footage captures the moment the vehicle ploughs into the[2] worker who was working while strapped into the elevated basket above the busy road in Louisiana, US. The huge truck make a wide turn and slams into the work[3] apparatus from below, horrifyingly flipping the man over while other cars zoom past.
The terrifying footage was captured earlier this week on Wednesday (June 25). "He nearly fell out of the bucket but thank God for that safety harness," one viewer wrote on social media.

An additional video of the incident posted to Facebook shows the rig grazing the underside of the elevated basket while it tries to manoeuvre the turn. The worker can be seen left reeling from the impact and left to dangle by his gear upside down over the road.
"I don't know how that truck could have made that turn without hitting one pole on one side without hitting the truck," East Baton Rouge Parish Director of Transportation Fred Raiford told local outlet WBRZ-TV.

Luckily, the worker only sustained minor injuries and didn't have to go to hospital.

An investigation into the incident has now been launched by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, alongside Denham Springs Police, to determine if any charges will be filed.
On social media, the incident sparked a blame game as many users piled in to give their take on their incident.
"Well somebody just lost their trucking license," one person typed.

"Take the next four to six weeks off and hire a great lawyer to sue the trucking company.
Set for life," another person suggested, showing their support for the worker.
"No way? they didn't even try to avoid the worker! I hope the man is okay," another chimed.

"Not the truck driver's fault. They should have closed the lane.
I sense big trouble from OSHA and DOT coming their way..." one person wrote.
Another added: "That's on the utility company.
Lane should've been blocked, spotter wasn't watching incoming traffic."
