All trains to major Manchester railway station blocked due to fire near tracks

Disruption is expected until at least 8pm as a plume of smoke rises from the blaze

All railway lines into a major Manchester railway station are blocked due to a fire near the tracks today (Monday, June 23).

Emergency services are tackling the blaze at Hotspur Press near Oxford Road[1] Station.

Trains are currently unable to run to and from the station, with disruption expected until 8pm.

Oxford Road station has been evacuated due to the incident.

A National Rail spokesperson said: "Due to a fire next to the track at Manchester Oxford road, all lines are blocked and the station has been evacuated. Trains are currently unable to run through Manchester Oxford road in both directions. emergency services are aware of the issue and are sending a team to site."

A TransPennine Express spokesperson said: "Due to a fire next to the track at Manchester Oxford Road all lines are blocked.

Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 20:00."
