Air ambulance lands after lorry crash leaves three injured including child

Buses were diverted away from a busy road this morning following a crash between a car and a lorry. The driver of the lorry suffered a suspected medical episode behind the wheel as they travelled on Penn Road in Wolverhampton. The lorry crashed with a car at around 9.14am this morning (Friday, June 27).
An air ambulance rushed to the scene alongside two road ambulances and a paramedic officer. ADVERTISEMENT Medics also treated a boy from the car at the scene before he was discharged. A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car on Penn Road at 9.14am, two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered three patients. "Crews were told the driver of the lorry, a man, had suffered a suspected medical episode and following treatment was taken to New Cross Hospital by land ambulance." They added: "A second man, from the car, was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to the same ambulance, also by land ambulance.
"A boy, from the car, was assessed and discharged at the scene." National Express West Midlands shared news of the incident just before 10am as buses were diverted away from the road. ADVERTISEMENT
A spokesperson said on X: "Service Disruption.
Due to an emergency incident Penn Lane Wolverhampton [bus] 16 will be diverting in both directions via: Stubbs Road and Lea Road.
"We apologise for any disruption to your journey."
