Van driver dies after serious crash with lorry on major Essex road

A man has tragically died after a serious crash on a major Essex road. Emergency services were called to the A414, Ongar Road in Chelmsford, at the junction with Wyse's Road, just before 11am on Thursday May 8. It was reported that a Peugeot Partner van and a Fiat lorry had been in a collision.

The driver of the van, a man in his 30s, died at the scene, Essex Police has confirmed today (Saturday, May 10). The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition. Specialist officers are supporting those affected by the incident.

The road was closed for a number of hours while Essex Police worked alongside fire and ambulance services.
