Two lorry drivers sent to hospital with serious injuries after M40 crash

Two lorry drivers remain in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on the M40. The incident happened on Tuesday (May 27) at about 5pm, in which a HGV was travelling in lane one of the M40 going southbound between junctions nine and 10. Thames Valley Police says they were closer to junction nine, Bicester, when another HGV hit them from behind.
READ MORE: Man in 20s injured after GBP200-worth of items stolen in shop robbery[1] There was significant damage to the tractor unit on the HGV that was hit. Both drivers received serious injuries and both are currently in hospital receiving treatment.
ADVERTISEMENT Multiple emergency vehicles were sent - including two ambulances and a rapid response car - to the site of the crash No arrests have been made and the police force is appealing for witnesses.
Investigating officer PC Rob Crofts, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision to please come forward. One of the lanes heading southbound was closed throughout the evening and traffic[3] did not return to normal until around 10pm, close to five hours after the incident occurred.
At its height, the delays were around an hour long with queues stretching back to Junction 10 near Ardley, eight miles away.
