Two arrested after M25 crash that’s causing serious delays

Two people have been arrested after a crash on the M25 that has caused severe disruption in Kent[1]. Officers were called to the M25[2] in the early hours of this morning (May 14) following a collision between a HGV and a road sweeper[3] between J6 for Godstone and J5 for the M26, anti-clockwise. The incident is causing delays, with queues diverting from Godstone to Sevenoaks[4].
A man, aged 30, and a woman, aged 25, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without due care. An air ambulance was called to the scene and a man has been rushed to hospital, by road, with serious injuries. The motorway remains closed due to spillage of oil, fuel and waste.
Drivers have been told to use alternative routes where possible as the closures are likely to remain in place for several hours. A diversion route has been put in place. Accident investigation works are now complete, according National Highways.
The police recovery is ongoing and once completed, National Highways engineers will be able to assess the road for any damage and confirm the extent of the resurfacing and other repairs needed.
