Trains disrupted and road closed after lorry strikes Black Country railway bridge

Train services are disrupted and roads closed after a lorry struck a railway bridge. The truck hit the low bridge across Bromford Road, close to the Sandwell and Dudley Train Station, after 3pm on Thursday (May 1). No one was reportedly hurt but the road has been closed in both directions while the emergency services deal with the incident.

Traffic information service Inrix said: "A4034 Bromford Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to railway bridge struck by vehicle from Mckean Road to Sandwell[4] and Dudley[5] Train Station." ADVERTISEMENT "Congestion to surrounding routes including Kelvin Way, Brandon Way and Dudley Road as traffic seeks a wider alternative.

"Traffic is made worse here due to the closure of the A4031 Trinity Way in West Bromwich following a police incident."

National Express West Midlands said bus services 3, 3A, 4 and the 4M are all on diversion. West Midlands Roads posted on X: "Bromford Road by Sandwell & Dudley train station. "Road blocked, a lorry has collided with the railway bridge.

"Trains running between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 25 minutes."
