Smart Motorways Kill: over £2000 raised by tattoo studio

The Circle of Swords tattoo studio, in Trinity Street, held its third charity day on Sunday (April 27) to support the Smart Motorways Kill after tattooist Jack Gallowtree was badly injured while riding his motorbike on a smart motorway. Claire Mercer, founder of the Smart Motorways Kill campaign, said: "The event was a brilliant success, all artists were kept busy all day and they were still tattooing at nearly 10pm. "Yet again, the artists donated all takings to the campaign and that meant Smart Motorways Kill received an absolutely amazing donation of GBP2,500 from the Circle of Swords.

"This will cover most running costs for the year such as printing, postage, subscriptions and liability insurance, which allows me to carry on organising protests and events without extra barriers."
