Pensioner dies after crash involving lorry near New Cumnock

The 85-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on the A76 yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 1). Police said a white DAF articulated lorry was involved in the accident at around 3.45pm, and the lorry driver was not injured. The road was closed for crash investigation work and reopened shortly after midnight on Friday, May 2.

Sergeant Brian Simpson said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
