Lorry crash near Oxford caused delays of over an hour

Drivers experienced 70-minute delays on Thursday (May 22) after a lorry crashed near Oxford. The incident on the A34 northbound between Marcham and the Hinksey Hill interchange occurred at around 3.30pm, when a lorry shed a load of scaffold poles, according to the AA. The northbound carriageway was closed by 3.40pm, and one lane reopened at around 5pm.

Fire crews and ambulances attended the scene, and drivers were stationary for around 45 minutes up to 4.30pm.

An update from National Highways at around 6.40pm confirmed traffic[1] was not expected to be cleared at the incident until 8.45pm or 9pm.
