Live: Severn Bridge closes one lane in each direction due to strong winds
Drivers travelling over the Severn Bridge this afternoon (May 25) should take extra care, as one lane has been closed in each direction and a reduced speed limit is in place due to strong winds, according to traffic reports. Traffic monitoring site, Inrix, reported the lane closures at around 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon, posting: "One lane closed due to strong winds on M48 Severn Bridge in both directions between J2 A466 Wye Valley Link Road (Chepstow) and J1 A403 (Aust). "Matrix sign set to 40mph.
A lane is closed in each direction for safety in case vehicles get blown into adjacent lanes." A National Highways traffic map shows that traffic is currently slow in both directions over the bridge. We will keep you updated with our live blog below.
