Freeport East opens new head office and innovation hub in Harwich

Freeport East has opened a new head office and innovation hub in Harwich. The facility, unveiled on Tuesday, May 13, was made possible with support from Volunteer It Yourself (VIY), Tendring District Council, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The hub is designed to support businesses in growth sectors such as clean energy, AI, digital, and maritime.
It will host workshops, networking events, and mentoring programmes. Ivan Henderson, deputy leader of Tendring District Council, said: "The opening of the Harwich Innovation Hub marks an exciting milestone not just for Freeport East, but for Harwich and the wider region."
The hub is part of the Harwich Innovation District, which aims to drive economic development and innovation in the area.
It will be showcased at upcoming international events, including the World Hydrogen Summit and Global Offshore Wind in London in June.
