The vehicle had stopped in lane one of the northbound carriageway, near junction 13 for Stafford.

Officers from Staffordshire[1] Police's Road Crime Team went to the scene at 12.20am on Monday, May 12, along with colleagues from National Highways.

A 35-year-old from Brierley Hill has now been charged with a number of driving offences.

Lamine Sbai has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis, failing to co-operate with a preliminary test and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He was also charged with using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and learner driver driving a vehicle while on a motorway.

Sbai has now been bailed to appear at Cannock[3] Magistrates' Court on June 10.

A Stafford Borough Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged with driving offences after officers went to investigate a stationary vehicle in a live lane of the M6 motorway.

"Lamine Sbai, 35, from Brierley Hill, Dudley[5], has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis, failing to co-operate with a preliminary test, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and learner driver driving a vehicle while on a motorway.

"It comes after officers from our road crime team went to reports of a car in lane one of the northbound carriageway near to junction 13 at 12.20am yesterday (Monday 12 May).

"Colleagues from National Highways were also in attendance.

"Sbai has been bailed to appear at Cannock Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 10 June."
