Waitrose lorry involved in multi-vehicle pile-up sparking long traffic delays
A Waitrose lorry has been involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up. Five cars and a truck crashed in Lower Chantry Lane in Canterbury at about 2.30pm.
There were long delays city-bound as traffic built along Longport and St Martin's Hill following the incident near Waitrose and Premier Inn. Police were at the scene helping with traffic and as of 5.35pm it is understood delays had cleared.
There was already heavy traffic in the city due to closures near Westgate Towers and in Fordwich, while there are temporary traffic lights in Littlebourne Road.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to the A257, Canterbury at about 2.34pm today following reports of a collision involving six vehicles. "No injuries are reported." There were delays while one of the vehicles was recovered.
A Waitrose spokesperson said: "All our drivers are trained to the highest safety standards.
"We're grateful for the swift response of local police and will continue to support any further investigations if required."
