Traffic information site Inrix reports that two vehicles have overturned in the collision. It adds that queues are building, and all motorists were stopped at 6.40am.

One lane has since reopened past the scene. A National Highways spokesman said on X: "There is around four miles of congestion on the approach, which adds about an hour to normal journey times." Emergency services have been contacted for further information.
