M6 lanes closed amid police warning after car fire causes tailbacks

Two lanes were closed on the M6 motorway after a car fire in the West Midlands tonight.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Staffordshire[1] between J11 A460, for Cannock[2], and J12, for Gailey, today, Tuesday, April 1.
Article continues belowFire crews extinguished the flames which had ripped through a vehicle.
The car was gutted by the fire on the hard shoulder.
It is not thought there were any injuries reported.
Police warned motorists not to enter the lanes with the red x showing "to avoid prosecution."
Staffs RCT posted on X: "We are currently at a car fire on the M6 north between junction 11a and 12 along with @StaffsFire
"Please abide by the Red X's for the safety of the emergency services working in the carriageway and to avoid prosecution.
Team 1."

Traffic data monitor Inrix posted: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to earlier car fire on M6 Northbound from J11 A460 ( Cannock[8] ) to J12 A5 Watling Street (Gailey)
