Ludlow youth centre closure described as “devastating” after lorry collision

Emergency crews raced to the scene in Lower Galdeford after the lorry hit a railway bridge, a house, and the youth centre in the early hours of Monday morning (April 28). The road has since reopened to traffic, but the damage to Ludlow Youth Centre is "substantial" says Shropshire councillor Andy Boddington, representing Ludlow North. "It is likely to be out of use for months and it is a long haul after this, Coun Boddington said.
"Council officers and Ludlow Area Community Partnership have been working flat out all day to secure alternative venues for all the services which are provided at the youth centre. "This is devastating. A hardworking team of volunteers and professionals have transformed the youth centre from a building that was not well used into a thriving community hub.
This has taken a lot of work and the hub was just getting into its stride. Four fire engines, including the rescue tender, were sent to the scene from Craven Arms, Ludlow, and Wellington. An operations officer was also in attendance, alongside the police.
