A lorry fire on the A361 North Devon Link Road is causing disruption near Barnstaple this morning. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene shortly after 8.20am following multiple reports of a vehicle alight near the Landkey roundabout. The road is currently closed in both directions from Blakes Hill Road to the West Buckland turn off.

ABOVE: Smoke rising from a resident's garden following the lorry fire on the A361. Credit: Richard Maynard An articulated lorry carrying pallets was found to be "fully involved in fire", the fire service said in a statement to the North Devon Gazette.

Two fire crews from Barnstaple and South Molton, along with a water bowser, have been deployed to tackle the blaze. Firefighters are using a 51mm jet and a compressed air foam system (CAFS) in efforts to bring the fire under control. Crews are also working to stop any fuel from leaking onto the carriageway.
