Live M6 traffic updates as motorway closes due to ‘serious collision’

A stretch of the M6 is closed near Haydock following a 'serious collision' tonight (April 28). Emergency services are at the scene of the crash between Junctions 22 and 23. Highways[1] bosses say the northbound motorway is expected to 'remain closed for several hours'. In a statement National Highways said: "The M6 in Merseyside is closed northbound between J22 (Winwick) and J23 (Haydock Island) due to a serious road traffic collision.
Emergency services are in attendance and are being assisted by National Highways Traffic Officers. "The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours for collision investigation, recovery and clear-up work."
