Crash near Birmingham freight terminal sparks long queues as emergency services issue statements

A crash near Birmingham's freight terminal caused long queues of lorries out of the city this morning, Monday April 14. The collision involved an HGV and a car and happened in Landor Street during rush hour. West Midlands Police[1] and West Midlands Fire Service attended the scene, close to the Lawley Middleway junction, just after 7am.

There were no injuries in the crash, confirmed West Midlands Fire Service. ADVERTISEMENT But there were knock-on queues and residual delays in and around the freight terminal.

Long lines of HGVs were pictured back up towards the A38 Dartmouth Circus roundabout.

West Midlands Police said the road was cleared by 8.30am. A spokesperson said: "We were called just after 7am to reports of a collision involving a car and a lorry. "No one was injured and the road was subsequently cleared."

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on Lawley Middleway, Birmingham[4] at 7.20am on Monday, April 14.

"No-one was trapped or injured.

"The car had become wedged against the HGV, and a crew from War End fire station used a winch to release it."
