The Summer Road railway bridge in Erdington was struck by an oncoming lorry, causing the vehicle to fall on its side, blocking the road.

Staff from Network Rail were at the scene to examine the extent of the damage to the bridge before it could be reopened.

It is the fourth incident the bridge has faced since January, when it was struck three times in four days[1].

Just two hours after reporting the incident, West Midlands Railway posted on X saying that it had been cleared.

They wrote: "Bridge strike between Lichfield Trent Valley and Aston."Services can run as normal however delays and cancellations may still occur."
