Two suffer ‘serious injuries’ as air ambulance sent to car and lorry crash

Two men are in hospital with 'serious injuries' after an air ambulance was sent to a crash between a car and a truck. Police are urging motorists to avoid Ashbourne Road, through Bradnop. Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene just before 7.35am today to reports of a smash between a car and a truck.
The road was subsequently shut off and around two hours later collision investigators were spotted racing to the scene. Now paramedics have confirmed two men - the passenger and driver of the car - are in the Royal Stoke University Hospital[1] with one of the patients being taken by air ambulance. Officers with Moorlands Local Policing Team have this afternoon urged drivers to avoid the area while an investigation continues at the scene.
This morning and paramedics along with firefighters had left the scene by around 9.30am. A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] said: "We were called by police to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on Ashbourne Road, Bradnop. We sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers, a BASICS emergency doctor, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.
"On arrival crews found two men. The first of whom, the passenger in the car, was treated for serious injuries and conveyed via air ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.[3] The second man, the driver of the car, was also treated for serious injuries and conveyed via land ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. There were no other patients."
We are awaiting a statement from Staffordshire Police.[4] At the time of reporting the road remains closed.
